           McIntosh 812 Class

On Friday 26th September 2003 we were ready to lift the boiler out of 828's frames for the first time since the early 1990s.

In this picture we see the lifting slings being positioned at the centre of gravity of the boiler. The bed and outrigger supports of the crane can be seen at the right of the picture.

With the centre of gravity found and everything checked to make sure the boiler is free the lift commences.

With the lift safely completed the boiler is lowered onto the support bogie.

 The work of inspecting it can now begin!
